It is true that some rules do not make much sense or are disadvantaegous to cyclistts - but it is better to change the rules rather than bending them. In Germany, for example, many one-way streets are now legally open to cyclists. Next on the agenda is the legal right turn on red for cyclists. It already passed legislatiion , but you don't see theat yet implemented on the road.

Pushing sensible solutions rather than breaking the rules - the latter just helps getting cyclists a bad image and you do risk injury or more.
